The most important food safety conference has already been organized by WESSLING Hungary Kft. for twenty years

Hungalimentaria again!

The most important food safety conference and exhibition of Hungary is now twenty years old. This time, the conference co-organized by WESSLING and NÉBIH focuses on packaging materials, but in addition to authority considerations, laboratory tests and legal regulation, today’s most important food analytical questions will be discussed at the conference, from microplastics through dietary supplements and pesticides to organic foods.

The biennial scientific fair, the Hungalimentaria Conference and Exhibition will be organized again in 2017 for food testing and inspection organizations, manufacturers and distributors by the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) and WESSLING Hungary Kft., an operator of independent laboratories.

The motto of the conference to be held for the 11th time on April 26th and 27th is „Foods and their packaging materials on the table”. Packaging materials play a key role in food safety: in addition to keeping the food together, they protect it from the effects of the environment (and vice versa), they make it keepable and safe, and they also carry important messages and information. Migration and laboratory testing of packaging materials, as well as microbiological hazards and legal regulation will also be discussed at the conference.

In the sections of the two-day conference other current topics will also be discussed, including  microplastics, not only accumulating in the seas, but also appearing now in foods, pesticide exposure of consumers, testing of dietary supplements, the secrets of doping control, the authentication of organic products, soil-friendly procedures to prevent starvation, as well as the extent of food waste.

One of the most interesting topics is the analysis of food ingredients, based on thermal principles. So har, this aspect has not played an important role when evaluating foods, even though it does matter whether entropy (the degree of disorder) is increased or decreased in the human body by the given component.

Speakers are representatives of NÉBIH and other authorities, ministries, domestic and international research institutes and the food industry, and also employees of the organizer of the event, the independent laboratory that has been operating in Hungary for a quarter of a century.

The main patron of the event if Róbert Zsigó, State Secretary for food chain supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the patrons are Márton Oravecz, Chairman of the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) and Lajos Bognár, Deputy State Secretary for food chain supervision. Also will be speaking at the plenary session Dr. László Zanathy, managing director of WESSLING Hungary Kft., Zoltán Gombos, Head of the Food Chain Supervision Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Diána Bánáti, European scientific director of the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) and Ferencné Karsai, Department Head of the National Accreditation Authority, as well as Tamás Szigeti, Director of business development of WESSLING Hungary Kft., editor-in-chief of the scientific magazine Journal of Food Investigations.

The main goal of Hungalimentaria is to bring the scientific and practical aspects of analytical chemistry, microbiology and molecular biology closer to professional decision-makers utilizing analytical results, to the staff of laboratories carrying out the testing of foods and feeds, to representatives of the food industry, and to all interested parties.

Organizers would like to point out that we are all consumers of the agricultural, industrial or service sectors. Recognition of the health and economic risks carried by our foods, the determination of the extent of these risks, and their publication and elimination are in the interest of the entire society.

Location and date of the conference: Aquaworld Resort Budapest Hotel, Amazonas Conference Room, 1044 Budapest, Íves út 16. 1146 Budapest, 2017. 04. 26-27.
