This year, the winning confectionery also receives a TOP-Hygiene certification as a gift

Sugar-free Cake of Hungary in WESSLING's laboratory again

The Sugar-free Cake of Hungary competition was announced again, confectioneries can submit their creations before June 15. Cakes are analyzed again by WESSLING Hungary Kft., an operator of accredited laboratories, and this time the winning confectionery will also receive a TOP-Hygiene certification as a gift. At the May 3 event it was reported that the concept of diabetic foods will soon be eliminated.

At the event held at the Zsolnay Café of Budapest, it was announced by Antónia Erős, television personality and creator of the One Drop of Attention Foundation, that the Sugar-free Cake of Hungary competition was launched again, for the fifth time. Confectioners can submit their creations before June 15.

The goal of the competition organized by the One Drop of Attention Foundation and the National Guild of Hungarian Confectioners is not only to introduce sugar-free recipes and technologies in Hungarian confectioneries, but also to draw attention to the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

The same goal is kept in mind by WESSLING Hungary Kft., now the traditional tester of the cakes. On this occasion, its recently launched testing and certification called TOP-Hygiene was offered as a gift to the winning confectionery by the independent laboratory. The TOP-Hygiene system aims to contribute to the improvement of the hygiene level and the credibility of the domestic catering industry. Companies that have been awarded the certification can use the TOP-Hygiene seal in their stores and on their homepages, and they are also listed on the top-higienia.hu website.

For the first time this year, the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) also participated in the organization and professional coordination of the Sugar-free Cake of Hungary competition. At the press conference, it was pointed out by György Pleva, director of food and feed safety of NÉBIH, that, starting from July, the concept of diabetic foods will be eliminated throughout the European Union, including Hungary.

So this product range will disappear from food store shelves, customers will have to look for products with labels such as sugar-free, reduced sugar content or the like.

At the event showcasing several celebrities (sweets were prepared in a cheerful mood by Jani Vadon, Zsófia Mautner and András Jókúti), the programs of the One Drop of Attention Foundation were presented by Antónia Erős Antónia and István Szellő István, from the kindergarten teaching program called Ingredients through the Family Health Day to the Drop Point Pharmacy Weeks.

One of the most important of these is the Sugar-free Cake of Hungary competition, offering an alternative not only to the roughly 1.5 million Hungarian diabetes patients, but also to people who like sweets, but consider it important that the food they eat is prepared without sugar and refined white flour. It is another goal of the program to strengthen the commitment of confectioners to a healthy diet, and to introduce new recipes and technologies, without added sugar, in confectioneries.

The competition is open, confectioners that are not members of the guild can also participate. The winning cake will be the winner of the 2016 Sugar-free Cake of Hungary competition, and the general public will be able to taste it first on August 20.
